Handmade by craftsmen, these bachi (drumsticks) were designed especially for playing katsugi okedo (barrel drum on a shoulder strap).
Clearly a cut above their mass-produced counterparts, each pair of bachi is crafted from a single piece of wood, one pair at a time.
These bachi are the same size as the ones Kodo members use on stage. Along with traditional wood and animal hide taiko drums, Kodo also uses these bachi to play TAIKO-1, the popular electronic taiko that the ensemble co-developed with ROLAND.
Wood: Hou, aka Japanese whitebark magnolia (From Mie Prefecture)
